Community Care Alliance strives to empower people experiencing economic insecurity, mental illness and addiction, housing issues, and trauma-related concerns. They provide clinical and support services for individuals and families with long-term needs associated with mental illness and substance abuse. Their goal is to help people live as independently and as fully integrated within the community as possible These might include basic needs assistance to address emergencies— counseling, treatment, support services and residential programs for individuals and families impacted by serious mental illness and addiction— emergency and supportive housing to prevent homelessness and promote stabilization— alternative education and services for families with young children and adolescents— and employment, financial literacy and vocational training to improve self-sufficiency.

Recovery: St. Matthias Ministry This ministry is dedicated to reaching and supporting individuals struggling with drug and alcohol problems. We also provide help to families in need of guidance or support due to a loved one’s drug or alcohol problem. These problems can affect their everyday lives and also the lives of their families and loved ones. Rhode Island has one of the highest percentages of illicit drug, marijuana and alcohol use in the country. Therefore, this ministry also provides resource information, workshops, and education to the public in collaboration with other faith-based groups and recovery organizations

Services: Self-help organization for parents who lost a baby through miscarriage, selective termination, stillbirth, neonatal death, sudden infant death, or accidental death, and who are now in or considering a subsequent pregnancy.

For adolescent girls, 13-17. Provides individual, group and family counseling in a long-term residential treatment program for women in recovery from chemical dependency. Daily living in a family atmosphere develops a sense of normalcy and belonging in a non-threatening, supportive, educative and chemically free environment. The program places a strong emphasis on the Twelve Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. Assertiveness training as well as physical and recreational activities are designed to improve health and appearance. Special emphasis is placed on helping each woman develop positive feelings of self-worth that will support the ultimate goal of sobriety. A relapse prevention specialist provides residential and outpatient relapse prevention services. Eastman House also offers a continuing after care program. Services: Families Reaching Into Each New Day. Friends Way provides free peer based support groups, under the direct supervision of mental health professionals, for children and teens who are mourning the death of a loved one, usually a parent or sibling. We also provide crisis intervention, education and training on the subject of children's grief and loss to schools, mental health professionals, clergy and the community at large.

A support group for adults whose loved ones have died by suicide. The group is comprised of spouses, siblings, and parents who have suffered this particular loss. Meetings are on Wednesdays, in eight week blocks, from 6:00PM - 7:30PM.

The Tomorrow Fund sponsors a bereavement aftercare program that is facilitated by Clinical Social Workers and includes a monthly support group for bereaved parents.

For those who have experienced the recent death of a loved one, Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice provides several Bereavement Support Groups throughout the year. These groups address a variety of topics designed to help, heal and support those who have lost a loved one. These groups are open to the public and free of charge.

Grief and bereavement support groups are held at various times and locations throughout the year to support individuals and families who have lost a loved one. Coming together with others to share similar feelings and thoughts is beneficial to the grieving process. The support groups are a 6-session series led by the hospice chaplain, who teaches healing and coping strategies.
