Provides public bus transportation throughout the state. Maintains and operates buses, some with wheelchair lifts for handicapped persons. Publishes bus schedules. Issues identification cards for seniors and handicapped. *** Low income persons with a disability or age 65 and above may ride free of charge with a RIPTA NO FARE ID PASS. All other persons age 65 and above or with a disability pay full fare during RIPTA peak hours of service (7:00AM - 9:00AM and 3:00PM - 6:00PM on weekdays) and pay 1/2 fare all other times upon presentation of a RIPTA Senior/Disabled ID Pass or a Medicare ID Card. Reduced Fare Bus Pass Program-Applications program must be submitted in person at RIPTA’s Photo Identification office. Printable versions of applications online. To have an application mailed to you, call the Photo ID office. All completed applications must be presented in person at Photo ID office locations during operating hours.
